COMMUNITY WATER • KIMININI, TRANS NZOIA
Five Star is a locally organized community empowerment group in the Moi area. Its project brief describes about 3,500 people who rely mainly on hand-dug wells for household water and small-scale kitchen farming.
During dry periods, hand-dug wells can run dry and. residents may walk more than three miles to the river. The project plan proposes a borehole, solar pump and protected water point designed to provide an estimatedfive gallons per minute. Community hygiene training and a representative water-user committee will support safe use and local upkeep. These are plans from the project document; SWIG will update this page as implementation progress and results are confirmed. Contact SWIG about supporting community water work.
